Accredited by the National Health Insurance Authority, a significant proportion TopMED Pharmaceuticals and Diagnostic services are covered by the National Health Insurance Scheme.

TopMED P&D has leverage on its accreditation to reachout to the underserved rural arears to help tackle perculiar health access challenges confronting the rural poor.

The rural sick has obvious access difficulties when it comes to healthcare. TopMED has identified geographical and financial access to key diagnostic and pharmaceutical services as a major problem in rural communities.

Many a time, the rural sick has to be referred to an urban facility either for diagnostic investigations such as ECG, ultrasonography, endoscopy and other laboratory tests, or for medicines vital for managing their conditions. Limited availability of diagnostic services and limited stocking of pharmaceuticals by public health facilities in rural areas have always necessitate such referrals. Consequent to such referrals, the already poor patient has to bear other costs in terms of transport to access the needed services in the urban centres alongside expenses on required investigation or medicines.
Many a time, the poor rural patient never get the necessary means to go for such referrals. . Others resort to cheaper alternatives such as native medicines which at the end compound their predicament.
This unfortunate choice usually leads to further deterioration of their conditions and could result in untimely deaths.

Driven by compassion for rural poor, and as a way of supporting the quest for MDG-5, TopMED embarked on a mission to bring diagnostic and medical advisory services to the doorstep of the rural poor.

Our Kwahu branch serves the Kwahu South, Kwahu East, Afram Plains north and south districts and Kwahu West Municipal of the Eastern Region.
The Nsawam-Adoagyire branch serves the Nsawam-Adoagyire Municipality, Adeiso and Akuapem South Districts, Ga west district and the many other adjoining districts and municipals.

Besides siting our facilities close to rural communities, TopMED also has mobile units that are devoted to providing vital medical diagnostics and health advisory support to rural health facilities and their patients. Made up of well trained and dedicated Clinicians, Laboratory technicians, Biomedical Scientists, Pharmacists, and Ultrasonographers, among other supporting staff, our outreach teams embark on periodic visits to health facilities in underserved communities to setup and offer out medical diagnostic care and health advisory services free of charge to needy patients.
